I am reaching out to you during a time of unspeakable tragedy. This Christmas, instead of peace and celebration, the Christian community in Plateau State, Nigeria, faced a horrific attack. Over 300 Christians were mercilessly massacred, several hundred more wounded, and over 5,000 people were forced from their homes by Fulani Muslim terrorists. A day meant for joy was turned into a living nightmare.
The response from the Nigerian government was delayed and inadequate, taking over 12 hours to initiate. This delay underscores a stark reality: the crucial need for organizations like Equipping The Persecuted to step in where others cannot or will not.
Our team has been deployed swiftly in response. We are on the ground, providing essential aid: food, sleeping mats, and covering the medical treatment costs for the wounded. But our work doesn’t stop there. The necessity for security training in Christian villages is paramount, and we are committed to ramping up our security team training programs. We believe that proactive measures are as vital as reactive responses.
