Motivation from God to Pray

Today I want to share about some of the many verses in God’s Word that help us and even motivate us to pray. Consider what the Lord tells us:

  • I Chronicles 16:11 “Look to the Lord and His strength…”

  • Proverbs 15:8 “…the prayer of the upright pleases Him.”

  • Luke 18:1 “…always pray and not give up.”

  • Romans 8:26 “…the Spirit Himself intercedes for us…”

  • Philippians 4:6 “…present your requests to God.”

  • Colossians 4:2 “Devote yourself to prayer…”

  • I Thessalonians 5:17-18 “…give thanks in all circumstances…”

  • I Timothy 2:8 “…lift up holy hands in prayer...”

We look to the Lord with confidence. Sometimes in life we do not know what to pray. When trials and tribulations strike us even when we do not know what or how to pray we can be assured God’s Spirit intercedes for us (Romans 8:26). We can approach Him boldly as our God and the God of gods who is pleased by our prayers. God honors prayer all throughout His Word and so when we do not feel like praying friends we keep praying. When we do not know what to pray we keep praying. When we wonder if prayer accomplishes anything we trust God’s Word not ourselves or the words of the fallen rebellious world. God is our God. We are His people and He cares for us and is glorified and pleased when we call upon Him in prayer. Praise God for the great gift of prayer and let us pray increasingly by God’s grace!
